Mercedes uses HP tablet pc’s and servers, and you know it!

Mercedes uses HP tablet pcs and servers, and you know it!

Spot the HP logo!

In a not-so-recent promotional video of their S-Class Guard “everything-proof” luxury car, Mercedes used a lot of HP equipment – most noticeably a HP Tablet PC (I think it’s a black 2710p but I could be wrong), various large HP LCD display units and HP servers in the background.

The video itself is one of the most marvelous and one of the best product promotional videos by a company that I’ve seen to date. It’s sophisticated, it has some pretty ‘cool’ scenes in it (ie the high tech machinery and servers, firing several rounds and attempting to blow up the car) and the soundtrack (Bobblin Remix by DJ Riggy) accompanying the 5 minute long video clip is great. Most importantly, it conveys the message clearly and pushes the product features (run flat tires, traction stability control, bulletproof, bomb resistant, gas proof) to the crowd, all without telling them to buy anything.

Definitely something that companies from various industries could learn from. I’d love to see more of these kinda video ads around. Hint: Mercedes S-Class = Luxury, and Voodoo Envy 133 = Luxury Mercedes uses HP tablet pcs and servers, and you know it!

With Tony Stark using Dell and CSI using Apple (although I noticed a lot of HP stuff in their more recent seasons and episodes), it’s good to know that Mercedes uses HP!

HP Elitebook 8730w and HP Mini Note 2133 together

HP Elitebook 8730w and HP Mini Note 2133 together

Alright, you gotta admit – this is beautiful, a HP Mini Note 2133 netbook placed on the HP Elitebook 8730w Mobile Workstation. Just like a baby sitting on daddy’s lap. The perfect combo for anyone with hard core productivity in mind (ie photographers, script coders) – a small little netbook for working on the go and a big notebook at home or in the office for crunching data, graphics, photos and anything else you throw at it.

Let me give you a real life example of this perfect dual notebook set up. Let’s say you’re a photographer – maybe a sports photographer or you take wedding pictures – and you’ve just done with a photo shoot. The HP Mini Note 2133 is tiny enough to fit into your camera bag with ease to be brought along with you. You can display your photos on-the-go, straight out of the camera on the HP Mini Note 2133… either via a wireless transfer accessory that moves photos on the fly from the camera to your mini notebook while you take photos, or the old school way of using a card reader (the HP Mini Note 2133 has a built-in SD/SDHC card reader by the way).

Your clients will be impressed with the ability for them to choose which photos they like almost immediately after a shoot;  normally they would have to wait for a “samples selection disc” from the photographer then pick their photos. With that out of the way, you go back home, process the photos on that huge powerhouse Elitebook 8730w and deliver them to your clients quickly and effectively. There you have it, improved workflow.

Of course, it’s not only photographers who will benefit greatly from this setup… just be a little creative with suiting the two PC’s to your needs, the possibilities are endless.

Note 1: The HP Elitebook 8730w is a fantastic PC, but sadly, doesn’t belong to me.

Note 2: *Points at the Voodoo theme on the HP Mini 2133 and smiles proudly*

8.9 inch vs 10 inch netbook LCD displays

8.9 inch vs 10 inch netbook LCD displays

Phew I just came up from taking pictures of two of HP’s netbooks aka mini notebooks side-by-side (namely the new HP Mini 1000 and HP Mini Note 2133), and snapping the HP Mini 1000 all over. So this picture actually demonstrates the difference between the common LCD screen sizes available for netbooks; which are 8.9 inch and 10.2 inch displays. The ten inch display has a fairly noticeable size difference compared to the 8.9 inch one, even if they weren’t placed side-by-side as in this comparison.

The HP Mini 1000 (the black notebook on the left) features a 10.2 inch LCD display while the HP Mini Note 2133 (the silver notebook on the right) has an 8.9 inch LCD display. Although its screen is smaller, the HP Mini Note 2133 has a high-resolution display, so the icons appear smaller.

Also, in case you haven’t noticed, that’s the very smexy Voodoo theme with background I’m using there on the HP Mini Note 2133.

hp’s unofficial fansite has arrived

hps unofficial fansite has arrivedIt’s here, the HP Fansite! The unofficial community and resource for everything HP.

Hi, I’m Brad S. and I’ll be your MC for the site. Who am I? I’m a self-described technology geek and HP’s biggest fan ever. HP as in Hewlett Packard, not Hush Puppies. That’s probably not an exaggeration, I love HP a lot. And no, I do not work in HP, or Voodoo, nor do I have a shop of my own selling HP computers.

Why do I love HP things so much, you ask?

A lot of reasons. Too many to list that even if I attempted to write them all down in a 500,000 word long article, that would barely suffice. So enter the HP Fansite, the intention of this site is to share that passion with the world. I’ll be writing about HP products, bringing to you the latest news, things like that. Of course, the other focus that makes this place cozy is a community for “chit-chat over a cup of tea”, as I like to call it, about almost anything. Right now, I’m thinking technology and gadget discussions, user thoughts about HP products and ideas from you and me… but it’ll grow once you, me, everyone starts chiming in right? Look out for that in a few days’ time.

Stick around, it’s gonna be fun.
