I hope they fixed the heat issue with the Envy & i7 processors. I also hope it come with a backlit keyboard and a better graphics card like a ATI 5870m. The 5870 my be a bit much in that thin case though. Wishfull thinking.

I am not sure if anyone noticed, but after a quick Bing search, you also come to this site:

http://www.mhsmi.org/technology/computing_package.html

which specifies "The designated HP 2740p tablet is not scheduled to be manufactured until Spring 2010", which may help indicate the release date.

Hi Chris. That's odd. As far as I know, the G-series are HP branded, but they also seem to be available in North America. The CQ series on the other hand, are very similar models (same notebook casing?) which are sold mostly in Asia and Europe. Also, the G series are not budget "workstations", they're just pure cheap notebooks.

Just as an FYI, the G/CQ are not region specific naming conventions. The G series would be the HP branded budget workstation/laptop, whereas the CQ is the actual Compaq Presario line.

Hmm, going to 16:9 can be considered either good or bad... going from 1920x1200 to 1920x1080 (on 15 inches) means I'd lose 120 rows of pixels, which rather sucks. This is especially bad for non-dpi-aware software such as Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, which would no longer fit on the screen with a virtualized 1024x768 resolution.

16:9 aspect ratio also means you get a numeric keypad on 15.4" -- but at the expense of the laptop being wider -- picture trying to fit the thing on one of those annoying college arm-desks.
