HP Z220 Workstation series and HP t410 Zero Client announced

HP Z220 Workstation series and HP t410 Zero Client announced

HP t410 All-in-One Zero Client

Naturally, as HP updated just about every single laptop in their consumer and business lines this week, some business desktops also got updated. For really large businesses, HP has got the new Z220 entry-level workstation series announced, which succeed last year’s Z210 models with fresh choices of processors and graphics options. Still no word on any successors to the bigger Z400, Z600 or Z800 workstations though; one would guess HP would have brought out at least a new flagship Z810 workstation by now, but apparently not. Anyway, the Z220 will be available in two flavors just like the old Z210… there’s the Z220 CMT (convertible mini tower) and smaller Z220 SFF (small form factor).

HP also has got a fairly groundbreaking HP t410 All-in-One Zero Client, which businesses which need to deploy a lot of computers to a lot of staff and need them linked to central servers will absolutely love. The HP t410 Zero Client is composed of a 18.5 inch LED backlit display (with a rather low resolution of 1366 x 768) and it needs just one Ethernet cable for both power supply (the screen consumes just 13W) and a data link to central servers. While the server will do most of the background work and data crunching, the HP t410 Zero Client acts as a front interface for employees to do work on.

Under the hood of the HP t410 Zero Client is a 1 GHz Texas Instruments Cortex A8 processor and DSP, something like what you would find on modern smartphones. There are 4 USB ports and a dedicated power port in case the Ethernet connection isn’t able to provide sufficient power to the system (which can happen if all 4 USB ports are used and drawing extra power).

The HP t410 Zero Client will be available this summer for $429 each.

HP to continue making computers as they are now

HP to continue making computers as they are now

Everyone's happy with HP now!

Whew, after much confusion as to what HP was thinking and what would happen to HP Fansite if they did, and a sprinkle of hope when they swapped out CEO’s, the verdict is in this week. According to HP’s new CEO Meg Whitman, they’ve looked at the idea of spinning PSG (HP’s computer division, essentially) off, but have decided against it, saying it was the right thing to do for just about everyone (from customers to employees) if they just kept things as they were right now.

To add a little disco ball for us party-goers who are going out to celebrate not having to buy a Dell or Lenovo as their next machine (or icing on the cake if you will), HP will also be making Windows 8 PC when Microsoft’s revolutionary operating system (versus the Vista to 7 jump) debuts next year, along with the fact they’re gonna be making Windows 8 tablets to keep costs under control (yup, if you’re still hopeful about WebOS, you should really stop now).

Alright HP, now that you guys have ironed things out, how about finally launching them Ultrabooks soon after missing the initial rumored due date? And updated Pavilions and Envy’s sporting Intel’s very latest Sandy Bridge processors (those seen in the recent MacBooks and stuff)? And perhaps updating the rest of the Z-workstation line after just doing the Z210 updates earlier this year? How about an EliteBook refresh for those of us who like stepping on our notebook screens or have been using those reliable old-school models for too long?

But we’re just happy that HP has decided to make this decision, probably one of their smarter moves since making blunders with WebOS and such. Hopefully a sign of better things to come for HP indeed!

New 2011 HP Pavilion series desktops

HP has just announced three new Pavilion series consumer desktops today: The compact Pavilion Slimline S5, regular-sized Pavilion p7 and more powerful Pavilion HPE h8. They all feature Beats Audio and Sandy Bridge Intel processors of all sorts. With price tags starting at $330 (s5), $300 (p7) and $600 (h8) respectively, these guys are a lot more affordable (but certainly less powerful) than HP’s Z210 series workstations released last month. They should be available for order on June 15 from HP.

HP also announced a new 23 inch LED backlit display today, the HP x2301 Micro Thin display. It has 1920 x 1080p Full HD resolution like you’d expect from most monitors nowadays but it’s main appeal is its ultra-slim profile, measuring 9.8 mm or just under 0.4 inches thin. It’s a glossy display, comes with a non-detachable base (which doesn’t seem to be adjustable in height either), with connectors for single DVI, VGA and HDMI. It should be available for order on June 10 for just $280.

And it’s really that slim!

HP’s four new Pavilion Elite desktops become real

HPs four new Pavilion Elite desktops become real

Remember that leak a few days ago about a new HP Pavilion notebook, Compaq netbook and four Pavilion Elite desktops from a retailer who sounded like they knew some stuff, but at the same time, were also putting in some guesswork of their own? Turns out they were right about the NUMBER of new products and product pictures, but they seem to be off about product names and were most likely, really half-guessing some of the specifications (and price, since HP as of now has no official pricing available).

Rightfully, the products announced today are the Pavilion Elite 110, 120, 130 and 170. They come in a variety of flavors: choose from AMD or Intel processors, with various quad core choices, up to 24 GB total DDR3 RAM, up to 2 TB of hard disk storage (though number of hard disk bays is unknown), and Nvidia or ATI graphics cards… take your pick! Other than that, details seem to be comparatively scarce compared to the netbooks/new Touchsmart tablet launched today. HP has also yet to decide on pricing and availability

Coming soon: 2010 HP Pavilion dv4, Compaq netbook, new HP Pavilion Elite desktops

Coming soon: 2010 HP Pavilion dv4, Compaq netbook, new HP Pavilion Elite desktops

News of several upcoming HP computers has just broke out (or should I say, leaked) on the internet, apparently sprouting from online retailer Logic Buy. The folks there appear to be slightly unsure about the products (but they do have pictures), with specifications lists made out of some potentially real facts and some patchwork speculation.

Disclaimer: The source for this news article is not on HP Fansite’s “trusted sources” list, so do take specifications with a pinch of salt! The pictures appear to be real though!

Coming soon: 2010 HP Pavilion dv4, Compaq netbook, new HP Pavilion Elite desktops

Compaq Mini CQ10: Starting from the least significant of things is the Compaq Mini CQ10 netbook. This Compaq-branded netbook is a mashup of last year’s HP Mini designs (with the ‘old’, non-chiclet keyboard) and the guts of the recently leaked-n-selling HP Mini 210. The Compaq Mini CQ10 will sport a single-core 1.66 GHz, latest Intel Pine Trail N450 processor, GMA 3150 integrated graphics, 10 inch display and 250 GB hard disk, but UNLIKE the Mini 210, it will be limited to 1 GB of RAM, hinting that the Compaq Mini will ship with Windows XP (as opposed to Windows 7 on the Mini 210)

3rd generation HP Pavilion dv4: Unlike what they’ve done with the dm1/dm3 models, HP probably decided they’d save time and costs by re-using the hull of the HP Pavilion dv4. This 3rd generation dv4 sports the same design as its predecessors but with a different color scheme/exterior patterns. The 1st generation dv4 was a mix of silver and black, the 2nd generation dv4 was all-black and now, the dv4 is back… in all brown/gold (see the 1st picture above). Now, the folks out there on the net are only circulating pictures and speculation, but as the HP Fansite, we received exclusive information from a reliable source that HP will be offering the new Mobile Core i3/Core i5 processors with the new dv4. It will also have DDR3 RAM slots, new Nvidia graphics (as opposed to the crappy G105M in the 2nd generation) and optical drive with optional Blu-ray. To put things short, the new dv4 brings small changes: cosmetic, processor/graphics and DDR3 RAM – the rest stays the same.

Four new HP Pavilion Elite desktops: HP has four upcoming Pavilion Elite desktops. The Pavilion Elite 110t and 150t will be sub-$800 models with entertainment and media in mind, while the 170t and 180t models will cost around $1000+ and will offer more powerful Core i5 and Core i7 options, with a host of other step-up… plus the latter model will feature Nvidia GeForce GTX260 graphics

Well, things don’t seem too exciting for the HP’s consumer PC range this spring. Let’s hope for better from their business/enterprise PC side, shall we? =)
