HP and AT&T announce TouchPad 4G

HP Touchpad 4G

The duo which have already worked together on getting that HP Veer 4G out, HP and AT&T are back at it again. They’ve just announced the TouchPad 4G today! The HP TouchPad 4G is the ‘connected version’ of the HP TouchPad we first heard news about last month.

The changes you’ll find on the TouchPad 4G include:

  • Connectivity to AT&T’s HSPA+ “4G” network (no actual LTE 4G sadly)
  • 32 GB version only, at the moment (regular TouchPad comes in 16 and 32 GB flavors)
  • Slightly faster clock speed: that’s 1.5 GHz of dual core power for you (regular TouchPad is clocked at 1.2 GHz)

And that’s basically it. No word on pricing and availability so far, but with the standard TouchPad already been out for two weeks now, we expect the release of the connected AT&T 4G version is not very far away. As for price, expect it to be priced competitively against the iPad 2 (whose 32GB AT&T 3G version currently costs $729). We speculate HP might come in with either an identical, or slightly lower $699 price tag.
